>have a textbox in a grid. the controlsource is defined in the table as width 6, decimal 2. i build the input mask according to client set variable (some clients do not like to see deciimals). the inputmask variable may look like "999.99" or "999". the input mask works correctly. when i tab to the field it shows the correct number of decimals.

Set the column's sparse property to .F. and you will get your formatting in every cell of that column.
