Even if you're logged off, Windows won't like it if the power goes off unexpectedly. For UPS testing, it's better to boot from a LiveCD/LiveDVD/LiveUSB (Knoppix, Ubuntu etc.) or even boot from a DOS floppy if your machine still has a floppy drive.
