>>>A generic question - right now I'm using power unit. Should the battery re-charge when I'm using it? Say, last night it went down to 7% (as I was not using power unit) and I don't see it's going up at all today (it still shows very low on the icon).
>>
>>This happened to me last week ... first time I've ever seen it (I have a Dell Inspiron). IOW, when it was plugged in, it said it was plugged in, still showed the battery as being 12%, but didn't say it was charging.
>>
>>Like you, I don't reboot often unless things start acting wacky. This constituted "wacky" as far as I was concerned, so I shut everything down and started back up again (cold re-boot vs warm ... don't know if that matters or not, but that's what I tend to do if I need to re-boot for strange behavior) ... anyway, that solved the problem. As soon as I booted back up, it showed the battery as charging.

>Thanks, Bonnie. Yes, my network admin suggested the same and after power off, removing battery, removing cord, putting back battery, back power cord and turning on the battery charged fine.

>Since it's the second time incident (or may be a few times) I'm a bit concerned.

I would do a cold reboot once a week. I have to using my Dell Latitude or else the battery (appears) to stop charging. I also run it on battery alone at least once a week until the low battery warning comes up...
