>A generic question - right now I'm using power unit. Should the battery re-charge when I'm using it? Say, last night it went down to 7% (as I was not using power unit) and I don't see it's going up at all today (it still shows very low on the icon).>
>This happened to me last week ... first time I've ever seen it (I have a Dell Inspiron). IOW, when it was plugged in, it said it was plugged in, still showed the battery as being 12%, but didn't say it was charging.

>Like you, I don't reboot often unless things start acting wacky. This constituted "wacky" as far as I was concerned, so I shut everything down and started back up again (cold re-boot vs warm ... don't know if that matters or not, but that's what I tend to do if I need to re-boot for strange behavior) ... anyway, that solved the problem. As soon as I booted back up, it showed the battery as charging.

Thanks, Bonnie. Yes, my network admin suggested the same and after power off, removing battery, removing cord, putting back battery, back power cord and turning on the battery charged fine.
Since it's the second time incident (or may be a few times) I'm a bit concerned.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
