After college she let me know she and he had broken up. Of course I was Johnny on the spot. We spent a night together in a hotel after my best friend's wedding. It was the proverbial night where you keep each other awake all night and talk about anything and everything. Somehow the topic came to abortion. In all honesty I do not remember how it came up. I asked her if she would. "As a matter of fact I would," she said. "As a matter of fact I did." She said her diaphragm didn't do the job and she wound up pregnant as a sophomore in college. She said that was the last thing I needed, back home with mom and dad and a baby. It was no get out of jail free card for her. She said I think about that baby who wasn't all the time. She finished her education, got a great job, met a great guy and married him. They have four daughters who are probably all grown by now. My point is that it is a complex issue men don't always understand. It's her choice. The word "choice" is not an idle one.

What the anti-choice guys don't get is that the choice is not just a matter of yes/no, it's more a matter of when. A lady can get pregnant at some moment when she just can't arrange a proper welcome to the new citizen of Earth. I can't imagine why would anyone wish upon a baby to arrive unwelcome.
