>>I just checked something.
>>
>>If the rotation and schedule goes as planned, Halladay is scheduled to pitch in Atlanta on Sunday, Oct 3. (The final regular season game).
>>
>>Given that Philly and Atlanta have been close for about a month now, that game could decide the NL East title (or lead to a one-game tiebreaker) and possibly even best overall NL record.
>>
>>In the last 3 Philly NL East title runs, they benefited from 2 NY Met meltdowns in 2007 and 2008, and no serious competition last year. Atlanta is for real, and the NL East will likely go down to the final day.
>>
>>I want to thank the Blue Jays once again for trading Halladay to Philly!!! :)
>
>Wasn't my idea. Although, Doc had the right to refuse any trade, but he really seemed to want to go to Philadelphia if they could work it out. I think he really liked Toronto, but he wanted desperately to pitch in the post season and the Jays were looking at a 10 year rebuilding plan (although it seems to be happening faster than they expected). Their wants were incompatible.
>
>It tells you what kind of a classy guy he is when you realize that not one Blue Jays fan I've ever heard of wants Doc to fail (unlike a few others who have left for greener pastures). Everybody here is rooting for him.

Definitely a class act and a great pitcher. I have said that all along -- that both of them are great pitchers. (Not saying Lincecum is not a class act, just a completely different personality from what I can tell). It baffles me that Kevin is so obsessed with which of them is having a better season. Clearly it is Halladay. Kevin keeps making his point over and over even though no one is disagreeing with him ;-) IMO Lincecum is just having an off year. For him, anyway. It would be a pretty decent year for most pitchers. He says it's not arm trouble, something people have always said is possible due to his unconventional motion. Until it happens it's just theorizing. And it does not excuse slagging off a guy who is in his mid 20s and has already won two Cy Young awards.

Halladay might pick one up this season after all with Jimenez having returned to earth and the Cardinals' two guys losing luster with the team's shocking collapse. In the AL it's going to be Sabathia, open and shut.
