Sybase used to be the name of the company before SAP purchased Sybase. They have several databases including Adaptive Server Enterprise, Advantage Database Server, and SQL Anywhere. Adaptive Server Enterprise is where MS Sql Server got its roots. Version 4.01B was a port from Sybase Sql server before Sybase changed the database name to Adaptive Server Enterprise. Sql Anywhere was originally Watcom. Ianywhere purchased Watcom and then Sybase purchased Ianywhere.

This is almost as confusing as the AT&T story.

>When we talk about Microsoft, we have SQL Server which comes in the list of available database. There is Visual FoxPro, Access and so on. When we talk about Sybase, it am confused as to know the relation with SQL Anywhere. Is Sybase the name of the company and SQL Anywhere the name of its database?
