Sql Anywhere was originally Watcom. Ianywhere purchased Watcom and then Sybase purchased Ianywhere.

You are using .net correct?
Are you using the sql anywhere data provider?
Also, if you are using the sql anywhere for wince or Ultralight, there are some slight syntax differences.
