Mere Mortals or Strataframe

As a newbie to .Net (coming from 10+ years with FoxPro) I want to get my architecture right from day One.
I am looking to utilise a framework so that my apps are consistent and have database flexibility. We have a number of vertical market applications to convert, all current with VFP data. Installations range from single pc to Citrix worldwide distribution so I want the flexibility of VFP data or SQL Sever or Oracle (requirement of one client).
I have looked at mm.net a few times over the last year and was impressed but never took the plunge. I have now had Strataframe recommended and wondered if anyone has used both or can give me any guidance of one over the other? Strataframe is more expensive, is it worth the extra?
Gary.
