What a great idea! I didn't consider using an external drive, even though I have 2 of them sitting right here. Obviously I'm not thinking beyond backups and photo archives. I would greatly appreciate reading your white paper. This sounds like the perfect solution: I’m mildly curious about Windows 7 and need to test applications in the environment, but am not ready to abandon XP quite yet.
