I too have found Dabo (almost 2.5 years ago). To me it seems like the perfect way to continue the VFP thinking and now I'm able to make money using Dabo. Others will tell you that the desktop is dead - I couldn't disagree more. Yes, I see the web and smart phones having a part of the market but the real work is still done on desktops. So the fact that Dabo is primarily a desktop app (it does have a sort web part) fits right into my thinking.

Dabo's use of wxPython has been an issue for me. Not that it does not work - it does and it's great. In fact in looks like VFP on windows. Looks better on Linux and Mac IMO. It's that the other GUI lib QT looks more promising (works with phones, web, and has a CSS type way to skin). I have tried using pyQT instead of wxPython with a little success. But it would be lot's of work to really get it working with Dabo. So it's not that it can't be done - it is who has the time and the want. Then there is currently the licensing issues for QT vs wxPython.

I recently discovered that it is possible to run python on Android and iPhone/iPad. So in theory an GUI interface could be written for Dabo. But I still like the idea of using QT.

Dabo has made using python to create desktop apps a breeze. Much like VFP did for me. So over all I'm very happy.
