First let me tell you that I do NOT use the ClassDesigner or the AppWizard. I hand code my forms. I know the ClassDesigner looks like the cats meow - and maybe it is for form design. But when I started it was not very stable and had many other issues. Today that's not true. Still I like hand coding my forms. And yes it takes longer (not much really). But I find that I have so much more control of the look and feel. Also it allows me direct access to anything in the framework and anything outside of the framework.

That said - there has been nothing I was able to do in VFP that I can't do in Dabo! And now I can do more than what was available in VFP. That includes dynamic form size, dynamic font size (for those over 45 years), reports to spreadsheets and pdf (all free), I have cursors, views, SQL (like pass through statment), controls associated with data, Parent->child-> grandchild (no limit) database associations, and much more. I recently added SMS texting.

I now have integrated xTuple (postbooks) which provides a complete accounting system. And I'm cross platform (Linux, Mac and windows).

I'm not bragging - everyone using Dabo has it all available.

I use Wing IDE. I start with it because it had debugging and was very user friendly. That said I also think the other ones are good too.

You saw my real world screencast - thanks for watching. I've come a long ways since doing that screencast. I have so many improvements and have learned so much more about python and what can be done.

Join the Dabo list and ask as many questions as needed. I have to say that without question that the Dabo list is the most friendly list I belong too. Everyone is willing to help.
