If a Logitech tech support person tells you not to install that software, or the software is otherwise known to be buggy I suppose it should be avoided. But, it might be worth at least trying it - IME it uninstalls cleanly if it doesn't work and you need to remove it later.

The one I have is MX™ Revolution. The keyboard is Cordless Desktop MX™ 5500 Revolution. I never had any problem with the keyboard. I am downloading the SetPoint 6.15 software version 6.15.25. This is from 07/20/2010. The detail page is at
