If you're not into its eccentricities, why don't you go with something dark and local that's meant to be cold? First, the bottom of a bottle of Guinness has a printed message: "Serve extra cold"
Second, I also drink a Black and Tan that's made by a local company (Yuengling). I like it almost as much as I like Guinness.
I'll admit I have strange tastes - I like coffee and hot chocolate when they are VERY hot, and I drink everything else ice cold. I can't stand anything that's simply cool or warm.
