>>First, the bottom of a bottle of Guinness has a printed message: "Serve extra cold"

The "extra cold" version is the same drink, so let it warm to cellar temperature (iow cold, not very cold) and try it. That "extra cold" is to bring Guinness more into line with the cold dishwater beers that dominate many markets.

But aren't you about due to migrate to red wine anyway? For medicinal reasons? Haven't we had this discussion before? ;-)

Speaking of which, you might want to google "bpa plastic" and consider whether you know anybody who drinks from plastic bottles. A few weeks ago Canada declared bpa a toxic substance and I see that 3 US states have banned it too.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
