32-bit ints are in the range of -2,147,483,648..2,147,483,647 -- so if the internal code uses 32-bit ints, you're likely going to get weird results. I don't recall the number of bits used in the mantissa of a real numbers, but if you exceed that amount you're going to get inaccurate results (as you lose the lower bits).
