I remember one of the first things I did with dBase III+ was to write a text editor. It had wordwrap, find & replace - almost everything but drag 'n drop. Remember INKEY()?

Power depends on the level of one's own skills with a particular language (including new enhancements and paradigm shifts which come along). I, personally, would rather "master" one language than be mediocre with two.

However, there are those very talented individuals who are able to master more than language (including new enhancements and paradigm shifts which come along). My hat is off to them - I wish I could do that but I am also compelled to allocate time and resources to learn related technologies (e.g. SQL Server, HTML, etc.) which will augment the former. There are also those who can do this as well - I REALLY wish I was like those guys.

>>To your co-worker, Delphi is a more powerful langauge - because he knows Delphi. Does he know VFP, or VB for that matter? The point is that whether a toolset is powerful or not depends upon both your frame of reference and the feature set of the language.

>I can rememeber waaayyy back when EDLIN was the editor of choice, until we finally got EDIT! You're right; power depends on one's own perception. It's difficult (and unnecessary) to make conclusions about something we know little about.
