>>Oh sure. His piano is probably better than yours. Same reason why Louis played trumpet better than I. He had that great horn and mine was just an old student trumpet.

>( the amazing thing about the piano is that is not only plays the notes but reproduces the pedal and touch )

What a beautiful thing to own!

Here in Toronto, we have The Ontario Science Centre - an amazing place. They have a music section and in it, at least then, they had a small glassed in room big enough for a baby grand piano and room enough to walk around it. The neat thing about the piano was that it was entirely made of clear transparent plastic (or glass of some sort, I'm not sure). the Idea was that you could see everything that went on inside it while it was being played.

Which reminds me; back in the very late 60s or early 70s, (too long ago to be real accurate), I had an apartment that was pretty much a drop-in centre. I might crash out around 1:00am with 5 people sleeping in various chairs and the sofa or floor, and wake up the next morning to a dozen people making breakfast. Anyway, one night I went to bed and there was nobody else there (a rarity). I was awakened by somebody knocking on the door. When I opened it, it was was my friend Henry leading about 10 or 12 other friends. There was one guy I'd never seen before. I think his name was John, but I could be mistaken. Apparently Henry found him wandering on Yorkville Avenue with no place to sleep, so he brought him to my place. Henry was a gatherer of human souls. John was from Kansas City and was on his way up to Orillia (Ontario) to work at a summer camp for handicapped kids. Turned out next morning to be my job to show him around. As an aside, Henry was Portuguese. His Father's name was Fernando, and his brother's name was also Fernando. I always told him they should have been on stage as Fernando, Fernando and Henry.

So, I took John to the Science Centre and we came across that piano room. He sat down and began to play. A little Bach, a little Brahms, a little Beethoven. While he played (and he was very, very good), he didn't realize it but a crowd started to gather outside that little room. When he finally stopped there must have been at least 50 people gathered and they all started to applaud and call for encores. He shot up and turned around. He looked just like a deer caught in the headlights. I have never in my life seen anyone slither out of a room quite like that. He was one with the wall. It was a hoot!
