>My favorite part was Kansas coach Bill Self living up to his name. If there is a more hypocritical organization in this country than the NCAA I don't know what it is. The kid took money. He was the top recruit in the country and he didn't know he wasn't supposed to do that?
>
>(Better than Cam Newton, the Auburn QB who not only took money, he asked for it -- and he is in line to win the Heisman Trophy. Excuse me while I barf).

>
>Mike, it's obvious you don't know the facts of the story.
>
>First, there's zero evidence that Selby "took money"...another sloppy reaction from someone who supposedly prides himself on journalism. Bay Frazier, a friend of Selby's mother (they grew up together in Baltimore) served as an advisor to Selby and Selby's mother in the last year, when Selby started attracting agents. There's nothing wrong with that, and it doesn't violate any of the NCAA by-laws.
>
>Unfortunately, Frazier did things like buy meals, clothes, lodging, etc for Selby and Selby's mother. While some view this as a grey area, since there wasn't any contract between Frazier and Selby, the NCAA views this as "impermissible benefits". Those who viewed the fine and 9 game suspension as "fair" have still acknowledged that there wasn't any ill-intent on the part of Selby, and if anyone should have known better, it was Frazier.
>
>You are probably also not aware that the NCAA is going to match Selby's fine of $5,700.and give all the money to a charity.
>
>And your comments about Bill Self are just silly. Self is known for a high level of integrity.

Known for a high level of integrity among Kansas basketball fanatics, evidently. Did you actually read what he said? (Maybe you didn't, since you once again pruned the quoteback to fit your argument). He sounded like a lawyer in his opening argument -- all so innocent, all so long ago, "but we have rules" -- total phony.

You just want the new stud on the team and are happy to look the other way. Which is what I meant about the hypocrisy of the NCAA.

BTW, I did watch the video you posted before. Selby does indeed look impressive dunking undefended and in high school games.
