So the definition of "self-censorship" is making different choices about coverage than you would make?

Actually the NYT and most major American media have run rather extensive (negative) coverage of the School of the Americas and some of it's most unsavory graduates over the years. A bit more relevant perhaps in the days of Somoza and some of the uglier Honduran thugs when it was considered important to push back hard in Latin America because some people still took Cuba seriously.

The big story is that what you consider the big story isn't considered by many The Big Story.

But hey, if the mainstream media "properly" covered things the way you thought right, you wouldn't get to feel elite, special and clever for seeing through it.

Remember, the same tight group of 100,000 conspirators that have kept the secret of 9/11 for over 9 years controls the media. Have you considered that everything you have heard about the arrests at the SOA protests would never have got out at all unless they approved it? Hmmm, wonder what their game *really* is? Are you a pawn in their game ... or one of them?

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
