>The thing that makes me sad seeing the hopeful faces of some of the demonstrators ( like those in the streets of Tehran in 1979 ) is thinking how many of them will be looking through the bars of Islamist prisons which will have remarkable resemblance to Mubharak prisons when the shouting stops.

One of the most intriguing articles I have read in The New Yorker recently was by an egghead, James Wood, in surprising tribute to Keith Moon. "Won't Get Fooled Again" is cited as one of Moon's seismic moments. Evidently you can go to YouTube and hear just the drum part. He invented a new rock role: lead drums. He did not invent rockers with a death wish but he may have perfected it. Hope I die before I get old, indeed.

Crap, it's just a teaser. I will mail it to you if you like. Here is the beginning.

UPDATE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll-bxodxjts&feature=fvst

IMO five great rock bands came out of England: the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, the Kinks, and the Clash. (Short, bang on the nose names, which was the right idea). I have been lucky enough to see all of them except the Beatles. I know history sees it differently but personally it's a dead heat between the Who and the Clash. They weren't in business. They meant it.
