>>No, Obama is playing the Middle East made a really over stones. "Places of Egypt, Iraq changed." The meaning of this
>>
>>I doubt that's even close.... Metin/Charles? (the quoted part makes sense to me given the map but the rest, no -- so the translation must be WAY off --)

>Loosely "Obama has really succeeded in knocking the china off the shelf in the Middle East and this means Egypt has taken the place of Iraq." ( the first part is pretty idiomatic, but if I remember correctly it sort of means messing around without regards to the consequences ) I think the tas is without the tail - i.e. teacup rather than stone. And the verb oynamak is one of those verbs that means "to play" but is used in a lot of compound - like "make" or "have" in English. "oynatmak" is to make someone play ... basardi ( with a tail on the s pronounced sh ) is the past tense of basarmak - to acheive or accomplish. So the whole thing could mean "has succeeded in knocking the china off the shelf in the Middle East" But it's been over 30 years since I used it every day ...

I just mean taş. You know "ş" letter doesn't in codepage 437. So I used "s" letter. Google is know that and translated as stone... :)

tas: cup
taş: stone

>Interesting language - lots of verbal nouns and suffix construction.

Unfortunately it makes turkish as a hard language... :(

>Metin : "taslari yerinden oynatmak" ne demek ? "making the teacups fall off" ? "yer yerinden oynasa" yani ?

"tas(ş)lari(ı) yerinden oynatmak".

Changing things. Birseyleri degistirmek. Ama oyle basit birseyleri degil. onemli birseyler. But not easy things, important and hard things...
