Yani saka oldugunu anlamisim ama baska turlu bir saka sanmisim. Insallah bunun da ingilizcesini sormazlar. Ingilizcede basit cumleler kolay ama karisik cumlelerde zorlaniyorum. Malesef su ingilizce kursu meselesini cok ihmal ediyorum. Gidecem, gidecem... Evde ilgi bekleyen iki tane cocuk ve hanim olunca zor... Keske zamaninda yapilan teklifi kabul edip 3-5 sene amerikada calissaydim o zaman bu ingilizce meselesini kokten cozerdim... :(
>>>>
>>>>Haklisin. Insallah gelecekte buraya calisicak firsatin olacak. ( ve ben de Turkiye'de daha calisabilicagim ! )

>><g> Neither could I, unfortunately. My Turkish has gotten very rusty. It was my first real 'immersion' language - learned originally over 40 years ago - and there were a couple after that that were wildly different ( Thai, Lao, Bahasa etc. ). In those places kept using Turkish words when I was scrambling in a conversation. Later I went back to Turkey and would blurt out sentences with Thai words thrown in that would leave the Turks really scratching their heads. <s>

>My sister effectively did it when she moved to France by deliberately avoiding English people till she had mastered French and could keep up a conversation in a bar or cafe.

Had a very very intense 2 month TEFL course first in California - the kind of thing where you do 8 or more hours a day and they never speak English in class (i.e - no translation - the goal is to think in the language. ) then another month in country. But in Turkey I was living in Izmir so was speaking Engish a lot ( and some French with the Levantines I played bridge with - to this day I'm told when I speak french I sound like a Corsican gangster ) But I studied hard on the written language and could read newspapers etc fairly easily. Grammer is about as tough as it gets for a native English speaker.

Thai/Lao was very different. Would go for three or four months at time speaking virtually no English. Sanskrit based alphabet but not that hard to learn. Very beautiful women. My Thai is my best language. Grammar incredibly easy, pronunciation incredibly difficult.

( really wish I had had the opportunity to learn French, Spanish or Italian under similar conditions. In those languages - even when I study up before going - I sound like somebody who learned it out of a book and my comprehension is even worse. Read easily, but speak amusingly.)

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
