A decent application SHOULD have a READ EVENTS, but it would still work without one, in the case of a modal form. I don't think it is entirely correct to say that the form doesn't "start", but rather that without a READ EVENTS (or a modal form), Visual FoxPro won't wait for input before running the remaining commands in the main program - and eventually reaching the end of the program.
