I have been working on a mobile app the last few months but difference is I am doing a web project. I am using jquery mobile (still in alpha so a little rough) and it does look and feel like a web app. Once the main page is loaded, every thing else I do is ajax so no waiting for pages to load. The main difference is the app will run on android, iphone, ipad, Galexy and soon WP7. The downside is you have to have a web connection to make it work but so do most apps. You don't have to learn all this new stuff because .net and MS Sql will work just fine. After all, isn't Silverlight dependent on the web?

And my prediction on Silverlight, as soon as WP7 has IE9, SL will start fading away. No other platform is going to support it and that means that only very specialized projects will be able to use it. JMHO
