I am going to send you a bill for my lost billable hours in the last couple days thanks to your irresponsible mention of android etc. ;-)
I downloaded Eclipse and sqllite and started playing with java and going through the tutorials and now am about to download the plugin specifically for android apps.
Of course the problem is no one is actually paying me to do this, but if someone would like to I can easily add it to my "geek out" list. <bg> Looks like fun. Will continue to mess with it. Definitely qualifies as being one of those areas ( like .NET ) where there is a *very* large community, some very cool toys, and a wealth of learning stuff. IOW it ain't VFP.
Thanks. Don't know if anything will ever come of it, but at least I feel I'll have a little better understanding of what the fuss is about ( and I have my eye on a next generation Samsung Galexy tablet or maybe that new ATT smartphone Tracy posted about ... )
See, old dogs can learn new tricks ( but an old dog getting paid his top rate to learn it would, of course, learn faster <s> )

>Android grew >880% during 2010 and overtook Symbian. If you review the above link from March 2010, Android's extraordinary performance becomes apparent.

>There have been suggestions here that the Android figures must be fake. There does seem to some question about the math, with neutral commentators questioning whether Android has indeed overtaken Symbian or is just behind it. If just behind, then by now an 880% growth rate has pushed Android past Symbian, which now is being dropped.

>People who complain about MS's abandonment of tech might like to consider firms who hitched their wagon to Symbian.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy
Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
