I have found the following combination kills most bugs:

1. SuperAntiSpyWare
2. Malware Bytes
3. Avast (configure to run a scan prior to loading windows)
4. Check your host file under c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts Some viruses will make entries here to redirect your to the loopback ipaddress of localhost 127.0.0.1

I've had clients with some pretty nasty viruses that wouldn't allow you to hit the internet, or certain sites and these things have fixed them all.

Seems it is becoming a well known malware issue. Kapersky has a solution that Mike used but I had already tried that to no avail.
