>Frankly, I think it is now a different time and a different world. Subscription forums get left out of the .net world when the internet is filled with so many options. I think the subscription price is far too high given the economy in many places when other forums are free (granted those free forums are littered with advertisements). Business is business. It might pay off in the end to draw in a lot of new visitors if the site was completely free. Once you have a lot of vistiors to the site, the advertisers would come for .net and other tools. Once that happens, you can bring back the subscription as an option to remove the ads for those who subscribe.
The good old freemium model?
I love this statement: "If you are not paying, you are not the customer, you are the product being sold."
It applies to Google, Facebook, etc.
Michel, I suspect that if you adopt the freemium model (to then sell more ads) you will be better served actually paying the .NET leaders to come over to the UT and answer/post here. Where the wonder-people go, the minions will follow :)
And I agree completely with Tc, paying members should get the ads hidden, free members should see ads.
