>Frankly, I think it is now a different time and a different world. Subscription forums get left out of the .net world when the internet is filled with so many options. I think the subscription price is far too high given the economy in many places when other forums are free (granted those free forums are littered with advertisements). Business is business. It might pay off in the end to draw in a lot of new visitors if the site was completely free. Once you have a lot of vistiors to the site, the advertisers would come for .net and other tools. Once that happens, you can bring back the subscription as an option to remove the ads for those who subscribe.

>From a developers POV though, if I am seriously in need of technical assistance, I need my question answered and I will go where-ever I can get responses - with or without advertisements. I, like others, prefer the clean site. However, when it comes to technical assistance, I will go where the answers are.

For most of the members who were not able to renew, it was confirmed because of the economical situation but not about the pricing. Basically, even if it would have been 75.00$, it wouldn't have changed anything as many were and still are in a situation where they have to cut a lof of expenses, and as is for many companies, cutting online expenses always comes first.

Over the years, I also received many feedback that the pricing was OK. Of course, the best would be to offer it for free. But, that is not possible presently.

In my case, when in need of assistance, I use this site first, post on the site, and in parallel, try to find something on the net. Then, I complete the thread with my findinds, either if I find a solution myself or elsewhere, if nothing came from here first. I encourage many to do the same as well. Populating our knownledge base content here is also vital for the ongoing process of the site.

I also depend on this site for my consulting and related work I do. So, it is my prime tool as far as knowledge base goes.
