Spain is nice [although it has lots of german tourists, and being tourist brings out the stupid traits in us...]
but I would not classify it as "safe haven" if you are afraid of national debt, taxes or gov changes.

I agree - at 20% unemployment, Spain is not in great shape. We would not consider Spain unless we had enough money to retire.

Betcha in Texas you would still fell more at home in a second Obama term, and the weather difference from Ohio is similar.

I've been to texas and do not want to live there - even though, as a whole, the economy in Texas is doing much better than the rest of the country.
