>If I'm not mistaken, you've been paid by Servoy.

>As far as waiting 4 months is concerned - when you get to my age and have survived major illnesses, major economics swings, and long periods where nasty people were trying to kill you every day, waiting for MS to say something for 4 months doesn't really look like a big deal.

>Bob Davies, the founder of SBT Software, used to lament to me the notion of the "technological treadmill" whereby the latest and greatest fad, whatever it was, by implication, made what we did yesterday obsolete. He moved slowly but wisely and did a pretty good job of steering his company thru the morass before selling it and sailing off to the Caribbean with a nice bundle.

>To me all this blah blah over what's the next move by MS reinforces Bob's idea that moving wisely is much more important than reacting to today's news or lack of news.

I mainly do work with companies who are interested or using Servoy, as well as with companies with nothing to do with Servoy. Servoy has hired me in the past to create specific technical content, just as Microsoft has since I left working there. Microsoft often hires MVPs and non-MVPs to create technical content for msdn.com and other sources, but they remain independent in what they do or say, just as I do. My interest in Servoy is to see the product and developer community evolve and grow, like with FoxPro years ago.

I agree with what you summarized from Bob Davies, who I remember well from the early 90s. And I don't think .NET developers should consider jumping ship from .NET based on the recent announcements and lack of full details around Windows 8. I also think the overall developer story from Microsoft that will be announced at the BUILD conference in September will be better than some developers expect, which I think is a point Craig has been making indirectly.
