>Charles, I'm typing "LOL" on my Grandpa box keyboard. Which carries a lesson: the QWERTY keyboard's deliberate inefficiency was ripe for replacement from the very start of the digital age, but that layout still dominates- even on the iPad. Just because something is better/newer doesn't mean customers will want it more, which also can be said for certain development tools whose demise was predicted ages ago, and for the Grandpa box itself. ;-)
As a Grandpa whose own grandpa used to call the refrigerator "the ice box" and the car "the machine" ( and who saw his first automobile when he was 22 ) , I can't help but be amused by the idea that when, I first got into computers people used to marvel at "the kids" who were the only ones who knew anything about them and that those kids are now themselves often grandpas who wish they made the numbers on the buttons on the damn cell phones bigger ...

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy
Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.
-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
