I'm not sure OLEDB was a "best practice" unless you listened to Microsoft. But, it's taken a back seat (from the MS perspective) to the .NET provider since .NET was released. I've done testing of various data access methods from VFP to SQL Server and no appreciable difference between SPT, Remote Views, or Cursor Adapter (testing with both OLEDB and ODBC) for standard CRUD. If you're inserting lots of records, SPT was the clear winner (I didn't test bulk insert).

>Since 1999 a lot of people will have moved from ODBC to OLE DB based on the "everybody knows/best practice" urgings. Perhaps they'll have a different perspective, especially if they got caught in one of the previous episodes as well.
