My last contract ended on Auguat 26th and I have interviewed for 3 contracts this month - waiting to hear the results of the interview I had last Wednesday.

Have you considered taking any other jobs such as bartending or waitressing just so you could pay the bills? I am not accusing you of anything - I am just curious. I know that if I were unemployed for over 6 months and couldn't find a programming job, I would start looking at other things. As a matter of fact, mid 2007 through mid 2008, I was terribly underemployed - I had less than 5 hours of work a week. So I was matriculated at the University of Akron and took a semester long course in ASP.NET. Have you taken any courses during the past 2 years to extend your skill set and make yourself more marketable?

Yeah...."the state that has been responsible for most of the job creation"....yeah - well, you know statistics...they don't lie.

I have been applying for programming, project management, team management, business analyst, data entry (they decided I wouldn't work for what they would pay). It seems I'm in a grey area, too many years for a junior position, not enough in the 'flavor of the month' for a senior position, 'cuz yanno - once you hit a certain age, you get stupid and cain't lern nothin' (sarcasm:OFF). I have applied for contracts from here to New Jersey and other points south - but it seems, again, once you're out of work for longer than 3 days (exaggeration) that they're afraid you can't remember what you did for the last (almost) 20 years.

However, things are looking up, and I may have a new job soon, so - in the words of my father - "That was last year, this is this year - move on"
