Ah, don't be so sure! My mom was the one in our family with the artist flair. She does beautiful stained glass work, in addition to other crafty things throughout the years. Just 4 years ago I decided to try my hand at watercolors. Alas, I could not paint anything that looked like anything. Then I just went totally off the rails and probably broke all the rules...www.mkwatercolors.com. Mom asked me to participate with her in a local exhibition. A quilter who was there suggested my designs would make great fabric. That sent me researching. I had trouble finding companies that actually produce their own fabric. If I did, they were more than happy to attempt to produce my stuff, at my expense up front, of course. That idea sat for a while until a little light bulb went on and I thought "neck ties"! I did a quick search and found a company (
www.beautiesltd.com). The fabric manager was on vacation, but within a few days I heard back from one of the owners who said they loved my stuff! I entered into a licensing agreement with them on 9 of my designs over a 3 year period. The first 3 all became bestsellers. The 4th just came out a couple of days ago...http://www.beautiesltd.com/product/tidings-bow-tie/martha-kroll-bow-tie.
Long story short (if that's possible at this point! lol)...you just never know what can happen. Just gotta throw your line in the water.
