>IIRC you can uninstall Dell utilities in Programs & Features. You might want to leave any Dell Wireless Assistant in place, but I don't think any of the others are necessary for the functioning of your computer.
Thank you very much for you input. I should take time to lean how MS Security Essentials works. I have it on my working - this - notebook but not sure if I set up all the options correctly. In fact one thing I have not done is for about a year when I get a pop-up to update the MSSE I always close it. I think it is probably some mistrust I have with MS updates/patches on which I got burned on some years ago.
UPDATE. Right after I posted this message a pop-up informed me that MSSE upgrade is available. So I selected to upgrade. It took about 3-5 minutes. Everything seemed to have worked. I get "successfully upgraded..." and finish.
Now, about 10 minutes later another pop-up - exactly the same - MSSE upgrade is available shows. I thought I was doing too many updates/patches to my little application but MS has outdone me <g>.
