That's like saying if the US allows oil companies to drill for oil in sensitive areas and use fracking to suck shale oil (and give them enormous tax breaks for doing it) somehow we'd be better off. In reality they just have more oil they can gouge consumers for as they have done all along while keeping congressmen and other government officials pocketed securely in order to duck responsibility for environmental damage.>

I do not believe they are laws.
Sometimes they are very accurate predictors.
When it comes to huge money interests that can effectively operate as a monopoly on a critical part of the economy while purchasing lawmakers and press to suit their needs, supply and demand becomes irrelevant.

No - I think if anything prices would go up faster as the poor oil companies have to make up for their partially tax funded expenses they incurred in order to increase their incredible profit margin.
