It is no secret around here that I am an admirer of Apple and its products. It should be kept in mind, though, that what I mean by that is product design. In a number of categories they have designed products that are extremely elegant and which appeal to consumers. They have their finger on the pulse of what consumers want. (Some would say UP the pulse, LOL). Steve Jobs famously said that they don't use focus groups because we know what they want before they know it. Anyway, I am a lot less enthusiastic about Apple's "close-mindedness" and some of the business practices. It will be interesting to see if their posture changes with Jobs gone.
>Apple does it that way so they can control everything. There was a case several years ago where a company was buying Macs, throwing away the hardware, and putting the OS on their own hardware, then selling it to the public. Needless to say, Apple beat them in court.

>>That's pretty cheeky of Apple given that they don't mind Windows emulation software running on Macs.
