You know where to stick it in, don't you, throwing my favorite writer in my face? ;-) (One of my two favorites, anyway). I have a strong guess that if I had known old Fyodor in person we would have had a lot to disagree about. I like him for his writing, not his politics.

Your figure of 50% not paying federal income tax is high. In any case, those with incomes low enough not to have to pay taxes have skin in the game every day. You try getting by on that much money with few marketable job skills and a family to support.

I know and agree with what you always say -- I worked hard for what I have. Agreed completely, and a salute to you. (Not being sarcastic). What you are undervaluing is that you have abilities most people don't have. Morally we can't just condemn them and chuck them over the side.
