>While your points are good, I am not sure how you plan to avoid forever the demand for web/cloud apps. Web apps are crazy to program in how different it is from the desktop, but I am not sure what you mean by "trust."

That's the point of Lianja: you can't avoid the demand for web/cloud apps. There are 3 kinds of sections(the equivalent of form, except they can be accordianed on a single page): Form (controls rearrange themselves, with options for separating controls into columns); Canvas (arrange the controls yourself); and Custom (you can write your own class for the section, etc.). The first two will convert automatically to work on web/cloud apps running in the browser. That's why Lianja arranges its UI the way it does: everything is made to convert. And I agree, the "normal" ways of programming web apps are crazy. Sencha touted a webinar called "build a mobile app in an hour, not days" on O'Reilly last week. Guess what: they didn't program an app in a hour: they showed a demo. The app they didn't build could have been built in Lianja in 10 minutes (with practice <s>, but that's what you do when you do a demo, right?).

Anyway, there's the issue of trust, which you (rightly) raise. Will the company survive? 24 years of existence (as Recital) answers the business question (the first two installs of Cloud Server will be for big enterprises, Infiniband-connected clusters, on two different continent -- their business model for enterprise continues to do well). Whether the Cloud stuff will work will be answered soon: the Cloud beta will start sometime in November, and Cloud release is projected at end of November. Then you won't have to trust: you'll be able to judge for yourself.
