Again, without understanding how the grid works fundmentally, then understanding how MVC works, you will not be able to just jump into a sample, start changing things the way you think they should work, and expect it to work. You have to go back to the sample app, get it working, then make small changes until it stops working and figure out what you did wrong.

That's the way a professional would approach it....
