>I'm not sure this is true. There are many documented cases of people who were paralyzed for a time, and they still had all of their faculties, it just wasn't able to come through their bodies any longer. Stroke victims say the same things. And people who have lost limbs. They still desire to move or do the thing with the member that no longer functions, they just can't.

That's the motoric and sensory function of the brain, where some of the pathways were destroyed; the nervous system takes time to reroute through spare pathways. Sometimes it seems to have healed, and in a way it did - the nerves didn't regenerate, it's the spares that are gradually kicking in.

I actually meant destroying the brain - that would certainly stop the ideas - but I wanted to stay in text mode, as I remember the US folks advise discretion on things of graphic nature.

>From a Christian understanding, the body is a vessel the spirit works through, though it is our soul that is the true essence of "us" individually. Our body is temporary, and the spirit quickens the body, but our soul is as it is, and will be that way forever, whether we have our bodies here on this Earth, or are given our eternal bodies in eternity.

From my point of view, I am a body. Eternal me - it may exist only inasmuch as I wouldn't be immediately forgotten after kicking the bucket, IOW, in the minds of the living. And I don't feel I want any more than that. When I'm done, I'm done, ciao ragazzi, it was a crazy party, I enjoyed it, EOF.

Anyway, none of that can be proven. If it could be, belief wouldn't come into play at all.

I went into this discussion to suggest a correction to your latest messages. Whenever you mention "everybody" and "god" in the same sentence, I want to imply myself excluded from that "everybody", if it isn't too impractical to do - being explicitly mentioned as excluded each time would look too much like asking for free advertising, which (advertising) I detest. I guess you do believe that it does include me, but then you're committing that sin of hubris again - you always know better, no matter what I say, eh? Must be quite a conundrum trying to avoid that.

Just keep me in mind and out of your "everybody", "every person", OK? Or I may nominate you as the resident Doug Dodge, and we may do the whole dance again. I think I haven't forgotten the steps.
