The Visual FoxPro database is not particularly impressive, and nobody would use it if it weren't for the fact that it comes included in the product.

What I do find impressive is that so many things can be done with a single product - and at a fairly high level. I think that's what they call a "fourth-generation language". That makes it a bit hard to compare to third-generation programming languages, such as Java for example. I have found it a bit hard to find a suitable substitute for that. - There surely are some, but I haven't taken much time to investigate.
