>>>>This was not a happy playoff weekend for me; every team I was cheering for lost. But there was one classy moment. Respect at the very highest level of performance. It reminded me what keeps some of us interested in sports, beyond the surface level of who wins or loses.

>>>With a record like yours, please do not cheer for the 49er's! :)

>>>Sorry your teams lost but that is the name of the game.

>>The 49ers are the only team left I can cheer for. I will try my hardest not to jinx them.

>>Maybe I should do what my ex-GF is doing. She lives in Wisconsin and is a Packers fanatic (aren't they all?). When the Packers lost this weekend she said that was the end of her football season. And I know she means it. When her team (Packers, Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers) is out, that's it.

>Now that is what it means to be a real fan! When the 49er's are in the Super Bowl I watch it. Otherwise I have better things to do. Same goes for the baseball Giants - if they are in the World Series I will watch it.

In Cleveland that certainly would free up a lot of time. Browns fans usually would have Sundays free before the by week, Indians fans could start catching up on their reading before the all-star break and Cavs fans could take up several hobbies after the first couple games of the season.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
