OK, so it's safe bet that they have decided rules for their kids. I have 3 kids, and I have rules. If the kids choose not to obey the rules (break the law), does your GF/sister

A) Make another rule?
B) Impart some form of discipline?

See the point? There are already plenty of rules regarding all thing firearms. Yet people still choose to blow them off. It all comes down to the choices people make.

Of course, you and I know that in a lot of cases here in the US the punishments are ridiculous, but doesn't it seem smarter to more stringently enforce the laws we have then to get all bureaucratic and come up with more laws that will be just as ignored as the current ones?

I agree with your assertion yesterday that education is important. But right up there witth it IMHO is punishment. These days if someone commits a robbery with a firearm they get 2-3 years, out in 1 1/2 on good behavior, right? Now, if the punishment for the same crime, first offense, was 10 years no parole, I'm betting far fewer people would commit that crime.

As with kids, the punishment needs to be so severe that the people would think, "I'm not doing that crime (breaking that law)".

My 2 cents.
