Hi John,

>I'm not sure what you are doing with the GUI but if I didn't need a data interface (bizobjects as in Dabo) I'd consider using pyQT. QT is such a nice graphic lib (soon to support smartphones, tablets) and has graphing tools. Of course if you don't need anything fancy or are more comfortable with wxPython use it.

You may be right on Qt! I take your point.

The truth is that I currently feel much more comfortable with the "Wxpython 2.8 application cookbook" by Cody Preston (and Robin Dunn book) than with their Pyqt counterparts. Anyway I am trying to get comfy on the threading models as well first since it really looks like the python-based UI tend to freeze pretty fast if you do not make sure that intensive code is performed in threads. In both environments.

>With 50K to convert I'd contact Paul McNett or Larry Long they both created a simple VFP to python converters (without any controls such as buttons etc.). That will help in getting started. BTW both of those guys abandoned the converters because they felt it was better to use python thinking. I played with Larry's solution and it worked well. I broke up the VFP code into small files and converted. It worked. Once working I just rewrote the code.

Thanks for the pointers:)

François
