>>>>>>The turkeys were about 3/4's the size of the geese. One of the geese would hit a turkey in the thigh and momentarily cripple them, then the two would beat the turkey to death with their wings. Saw the first part happen and by the time I could get out to the 'bird yard' it was over.

>>>>>I'm surprised. OTOH I've never raised turkeys so I haven't had a chance to see the behavior.

>>>>The turkeys raised here get about twice the size of a goose (not linear, but by mass or volume). A turkey drumstick of 0,7 kg isn't anything special.
>>>
>>>They do get big. At outdoor events around here smoked turkey legs are a big seller, and you (or I, anyway) can make a meal out of one.

>>Same here at Taste of Chicago, a huge event downtown every summer. If the smoked turkey legs booth isn't the most popular it is neck and neck with some of the ribs booths and rainbow cones.

>We hardly ever have ribs or good BBQ at events out here. As Topeka is less than an hour from KC it seems kinds odd.

>We did go to a charity event last fall in Topeka that really brought out the BBQ though - most of the famous KC joints were there. Mmmm - mmmm!

>Luckily the company (not mine - Bartlett&West) paid for the tickets - I think they were $200 a pop.
That's one of the things I sure miss over here...real BBQ. A couple times a year I have some friends from K.C. send me some bbq sauce. Haywards, Wyandotte, KC Masterpiece...etc etc etc
