There has been speculation in the press..and I said the same thing before reading it... that the Windows 8 UI (Metro) is the way of the future. RT is the way of the future, meaning no desktop apps. There are advantages and disadvantages to this for both the user and Microsoft. However, Microsoft has not said anything about this. The next version of Windows, supposedly is code named Blue. Mary Jo Foley says it will be out farily soon. Guess we'll know more then.

And I am glad that VFP 9 app works very well on Windows 8. Which begs the question, if one is not planning to convert VFP 9 application to web-based but keep it as Windows/Desktop application, what is the reason to rewrite VFP 9 to another desktop platform.
