Therein lies the issue. They're not looking to solve the problem of AI. They're looking for a paycheck. The idea here is to change the mindset, to re-focus goals away from monetary gain and instead focus them on the achievement, the work, the global mind God gave all of us to work together and solve problems in earnest, seeking to truly find the correct solution for all ... and not just the solution for my wallet, or the wallets of my buddies, but rather for all of mankind.

We are brothers and sisters. All of us.

It's also equally as likely given the number of people who are online today that similar such efforts will result in a 14-yr old kid from Cleveland solving the issue entirely in his bedroom ... but only if he has access to that work and research, as would be possible with everything in the public domain.

There are too many people to discount that benefit. God has given too many people special and unique talents and interests. The global mind can do more than any focused effort by any number of other people. If we hold things up to God, and ask Him what we should be doing ... He will lead us.

It's not a matter of open source programmers. We're talking about theory and ideas as well. People can often understand theories far better than they can understand mechanics. In the case of AI, a kid could understand what needs to happen to make it work without necessarily knowing how to code it.

By putting everything into the public domain, it can go to all of those God leads to fill their roles using the talents He gave them for those purposes.

It's about looking to the world, rather than looking to self. It's about serving our brothers and sisters before ourselves. It's about putting ourselves in a proper perspective. It's about love.
