I had to do a static web site a couple of years ago and started it in ASP.NET for the same reason you are - it's what I had.
GoDaddy, where the site was hosted, didn't like ASP.NET so I decided to use HTML and downloaded the trial version of Dreamweaver.
It was a pleasure to work with and I zipped thru a web site with dozens of pages with plenty of time to spare on the free version.
One of these days, I'll buy it.
You'll probably have to buy a book tho.
Bummer!

>>>I am trying to decide if I should use ASP.NET Web Forms (WF) or ASP.NET Web Pages (WP) for rewriting my web site (static information, not connection to a database).
>>>
>>>I have read in a tech forum online that the difference between WF and WP is that WF does not give you good control over the generated markup. But it appears that for WP I have to learn two new technologies, Razor and WebMatrix.
>>>
>>>My goal of this project is to learn HTML5 as much as possible and (later) jQuery and incorporate these technologies into my site.

>>>Given the goal of HTML5 and jQuery, what do you recommend to use, ASP.NET Web Forms or Web Pages?

>>What does WP or WF buy you aside from a learning curve that won't be useful for anything later? A static page in HTML5 is easy and for cosmetics you can use simple jquery stuff. Multiple browser issues get handled (by jquery)

>I was thinking the same earlier, after I started looking at various ways of doing it in ASP.NET. I guess the reason I was looking at ASP.NET is that it is the only web development application I have on my PC.
